The Mutua
Museum, [he first of its kind in northeast India, is a private institution
administered by a board of trustees. On view are rare colleclions of
coins, the earliest of which dates to the 7th century AD. Also displayed
are 36 paintings by Bhadra who was a well known court painter. Among the
textiles are 4 rare pieces of silken fabric woven in a Chinese pattern and
worn by royal women. The other collections include sculpture, manuscripts,
ornaments and a splendid hookah in pure silver.
