Hariyali Devi: Kedarnath Temple
A route diverting from Nagrasu, on the main Rudraprayag Karnaprayag route, leads to the Siddha Peeth of Hriyali Devi. Hariyali Devi is 22 kms form Nagrasu which in turn is 37 kms form the main town of Rudraprayag. At an altitude of 1400 mts this place is surrounded by peaks and thick forests.

The temple has an ornate idol of the Goddess on a lion's back. During Janmasthmi and Deepawali this place becomes the venue for great fairs & festivals. Devotees from various place come here to worship the Goddess and seek her blessings. During the festival of deepawali, the idol of the Goddess is carried in a planquin to Haryali Kantha, the main Siddha Peeth of Haryali Devi, which is at a distance of 7 kms from here. Hariyali Kantha is at an altitude of about 300 mts.


Agastyamuni:
18 kms form Rudraprayag, at an altitude of 1000 mts and on the bank of river Mandakini, this is the place where Rishi Agastya meditated for years.

A temple by the name of Agasteshwar Mahadev is dedicated to sage Agastya and this temple is also of an archaeological significance, figures of Gods and Goddesses have been carved out on stones. On the occasion of Baisakhi a large fair is held and many devotees come here to worship and pay their homage to God.

For food and accommodation, a Forest Rest House and private hotels are available. Other facilities include market, bank, hospitals and telephone etc.


Guptkashi:
Guptaksahi has a great importance quite like that of Kashi. The ancient Vishwanath temple, Ardnareswar temple and Manikarnik Kund, where the two streams of Ganga and Yamuna are believed for their redemption. Lord Shiv was not willing and so eluded the Pandavas repeatedly. He took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. Being followed by Pandavas, he dived into the ground leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of God reappeared at four other places. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the stomach (nabhi) at Madmaheshwar and the locks with the head at Kalepeshwar. They are all worshipped there as manifestations of Lord Shiva.

2 kms from the temple is situated Gandhi Sarovar where the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed. 12 kms from here is the place from where river Mankdakini originates.

Vasukital, yet another beautiful lake is situated at a distance of 8 kms from Kedarnath. Floating ice on crystal clear water fascinates visitors to this lake.

Trijuginarayan 14 kms from Sonprayag and at an altitude of 1980 mts this place is of great religious importance owing to the belief that Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati were married here. Trijuginaryan also abounds in natural beauty.


Kalimath
Kalimath is situated close to Ukhimath, and Guptakashi. It is one of the Siddha peeths of the region and is held in high religious esteem. The temple of Goddess Kali located here is visited by a large number of devotees round the year and specially during the Navratras. There is a dharamshala for accommodation.


Madmaheshwar
The temple of Madmaheswar is a t an altitude of 3289 mts and is located on the slope of a ridge 36 kms from Guptkashi. The place abounds in immense natural beauty and the valley is full of beautiful Tungnathflowers. For accommodation, a Temple Committee Rest House is available. Visitors can also stay in the village.


Ukhimath
This is the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath and worship is done here during the winters when the temples of Kedarnath remain closed. The temples of Usha and Anniruddha, Shiva and Parvati are worth visiting. Ukhimath is at a distance of 41 kms from Rudraprayag & 13 kms from Guptkashi,. It is situated at an elevation of 1311 mts.

A P.W.D. Inspection House, Tourist Rest House and private hotels are available.


Deoria Tal
It is situated on the Chopta-Ukhimath road about 2 kms from roadhead at Sari Village. This lake has captivating surroundings with forests all aroud. The reflection of the mighty Chaukhmaba peak in the lake creates a beautiful effect.

The road is motorable upto Seri. 10 kms from Ukhimath and from there one has to trek about 2 kmm. All arrangements have to be made for a night half at the spot.


Chopta
Situated on the Gopeshwar - Ukhimath road, about 40 kms from Gopeshwar at an altitude of about 2900 mts, Chopta is one of most picturesque places in the entire Garhwaf region. It provides a breathtaking view of the Himalaeyan ranges and surrounding areas. P.W.D. Inspection house is available at Dogalbhita 8 kms from Chopta.


Kartik Swami
38 kms from Rudraprayag on the Rudraprayag Pokhri route is a village Kanak Chauri from where 3 kms trek feads to Kartikswami this place has a temple and idol of Lord Shiva's sonn Kartikeya. Situated at an elevation of 3048 mts the place abounds in natural beauty an one can have a aloes and panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks. Tourists/Pilgrims should make their own arrangements for food.


Tungnath
Tungnath, the highest shrine of Shiva among the Parich Kedar, is at an elevation of about 3680 mts. Enroute exotic varieties of rhododendrons, white flowers and shrub like frees can be seen in abundance
