Mumbai NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY
Adjoining the Prince of Wales Museum is an institution of a different kind where collectors have been donating their prize specimens foe over a century. One whole floor of Hornbill House, the Society's headquarters, is devoted to beetles and butterflies all neatly eaxonomized. Another floor contains hundreds of jars full of embalmed reptiles, plus drawer after drawer of birds and animals pelts. It is possible to join the society as a tempora5ry member for the duration of your stay in Mumbai. That entitles you to use BNH's extensive library of nature books. There are lectures and slide shows throughout the week.

PRINCE OF WALES MUSEUM
Designed in the Indo- Saracenic style, with and imposing dome in the 15th -16th century western Indian style, the museum is named after king George V who as prince of Wales laid the foundation stone in 1905. One of the most interesting museums of India, it has three main sections: Art, Archaeology and Natural History, and is known for its collection of miniature paintings.

VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM
On display are the archaeological finds, maps and photographs, which depict the history of Mumbai. This museum is also known as Dr. Bhau Daji lad Museum.

MASIN BHAVAN (GANDHI MEMORIAL
A memorial to Mahatma Gandhi who stayed here from time to time between 1917 and 1934, it contains two picture galleries and a library of books by and on Mahatma Gandhi.
